One year older, One tooth lost

It's been about a year since I've added anything to this blog, and so much has happened! I am starting to become re-inspired by friends that have blogs (and actually keep them current), as it's a fun way to check in on their families and see the cute stories and quotes that you just don't always get on Facebook.

During Lily's mid-winter break last week, 2 very important events took place:
*She turned 5 years old on 2/22
*She lost her first tooth!!!

There was a bit of confusion regarding whether or not the tooth fairy would be able to leave Lily's tooth for her to keep (as Lily had seen one of the character's on the show SuperWHY do). Long story short, Lily was told that the tooth fairy would be taking her tooth, but that she could keep it until she was ready for the tooth fairy to come and whisk it away. She held on to it for the first night after she lost it, then put it out the following evening in a princess-decorated ziploc bag. The tooth fairy removed the tooth and left a shiny $1 gold coin for our little princess. Her initial reaction (as reported by Brian, because I was at work on the morning she received the money) was fairly unimpressed. She carried the bag into our bedroom, held it up to Brian and said, "Is this a dime?" He explained that it was a dollar, a shiny GOLD dollar, and she's since picked up some enthusiasm when relaying the details of the tooth fairy to friends, neighbors, teachers, etc.

We will be traveling to Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA with Lily's boyfriend Kai and his family, to celebrate both of the kiddos' 5-yr birthdays. Kai will turn 5 on March 10th, and we're making the trip on March 10th. Little brother Max and Kai's little sister Mayli will also be along for the ride, so we'll be sure to get a few pics from the outing. We're sharing one big suite, so the kids will have a great time with their first "sleepover".

Stay tuned for near-future posts...and by that I mean that I should have something else in her during the year 2011 (snicker, snicker).

That's all I know for now!

Lily is 4, Max is 1 ~ so quickly!!!

At the time of my first post, Lily was almost 4 and Max was almost 9 months (still not crawling...Max, that is). Lily turned 4 in February and Max turned 1 last week. Lily has a very active imagination and loves to tell stories about her imaginary purple house and the 4 cats and 4 dogs that live there. Max is now crawling around quickly and getting into plenty of trouble...he especially loves getting into drawers, cupboards and getting near anything with a cord. We had none of these troubles when Lily was a crawler, but Max is persistent and mischievous.

I'm still working on finding the time to do anything fun and creative with the blog, but for now it will just be an update on the family. I have a few friends who are really into blogging, and I'll be asking their advice and for help with making mine more visually appealing....Brian is the only follower at this point anyway, and he gets to see the kiddos daily!

More soon......hopefully not in another 3 months like the time between these two posts!

No more blog envy...

I'm finally setting up a blog to capture the funny and cute things my kiddos are up to, now that I have time home with them to do so. More to come soon!
