One year older, One tooth lost

It's been about a year since I've added anything to this blog, and so much has happened! I am starting to become re-inspired by friends that have blogs (and actually keep them current), as it's a fun way to check in on their families and see the cute stories and quotes that you just don't always get on Facebook.

During Lily's mid-winter break last week, 2 very important events took place:
*She turned 5 years old on 2/22
*She lost her first tooth!!!

There was a bit of confusion regarding whether or not the tooth fairy would be able to leave Lily's tooth for her to keep (as Lily had seen one of the character's on the show SuperWHY do). Long story short, Lily was told that the tooth fairy would be taking her tooth, but that she could keep it until she was ready for the tooth fairy to come and whisk it away. She held on to it for the first night after she lost it, then put it out the following evening in a princess-decorated ziploc bag. The tooth fairy removed the tooth and left a shiny $1 gold coin for our little princess. Her initial reaction (as reported by Brian, because I was at work on the morning she received the money) was fairly unimpressed. She carried the bag into our bedroom, held it up to Brian and said, "Is this a dime?" He explained that it was a dollar, a shiny GOLD dollar, and she's since picked up some enthusiasm when relaying the details of the tooth fairy to friends, neighbors, teachers, etc.

We will be traveling to Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA with Lily's boyfriend Kai and his family, to celebrate both of the kiddos' 5-yr birthdays. Kai will turn 5 on March 10th, and we're making the trip on March 10th. Little brother Max and Kai's little sister Mayli will also be along for the ride, so we'll be sure to get a few pics from the outing. We're sharing one big suite, so the kids will have a great time with their first "sleepover".

Stay tuned for near-future posts...and by that I mean that I should have something else in her during the year 2011 (snicker, snicker).

That's all I know for now!
